The Installation Journey

Installing All Our Relations

“This was an extraordinary process from start to finish, one that has never been done before. All Our Relations has been a divinely guided project from the very beginning. For the first day of installation,I asked for permission from the City to hold a sacred fire and pipe ceremony. It was extremely important in order to thank Creator, all of my relations, my spirit guides and helpers and the ancestors, to ask for protection for everyone working on the install and to ensure everything went smoothly which it miraculously did. A special chi miigwetch to my Firekeeper and supporter, elder Don McAulay (on loan from HRIC), the entire Urban Indigenous Strategy team and public art team at the City of Hamilton, LaFontaine Ironwerks and their amazing installation crew, the crew from WAVES, the Waterfront Trust team and of course our AOR Project Management team: Jeremy Frieburger and Steve Deeps. It was an honour to work with you all to create this incredible legacy of Indigenous art, culture and history for the City of Hamilton.”
